The genesis of Garden Studio was in the boyhood pleasure of messing around
in the creek near home. I began gardening as a career in the 1980s and after
marrying we expanded as a partnership into landscape construction. I
completed landscape design studies in 2005 so we are able to present a
complete service for our customers. Also, I have taught urban design and
landscape architecture at The University of Adelaide and landscape design at
Urrbrae TAFE.
Landscape design has the attribute of being a most comprehensive art. Our
work makes reference to opera, philosophy, art, science and mathematics,
psychology, poetry and literature, music, environment, architecture,
contemplation, mystery and evolution (did we miss anything?) - our work will
appeal to those with a sense of adventure or to people who live with passion
but it also calls for some enjoyable effort from our customers - we need
your contribution to make the work "sing". We take cues from the classical
tradition but are choreographed by the romantic folk life.
So, if you have a desire to explore the deeper aspects of "the experience of
dwelling on the earth as mortals" you may find Garden Studio of service to
you. We are not 'cookie cutter', trend following designers, we are
interpreters, and our fees are not 'paperback', but we trust that what is
